Jim Freda has been fishing the beaches of the Jersey Shore for over
twenty years. He is a recognized as one of the Northeast's top saltwater
fly fishing guides and is co-owner of Shore Catch Guide Service located
in Manasquan, NJ. He is an active member of the Professional Fly and
Light Tackle Guides Association, Atlantic Saltwater Flyrodders, Coastal
Conservation Association, Manasquan Fishing Club, and New Jersey Beach
Buggy Association.
Jim is also a highly respected and
established outdoor writer. He is a member of the Outdoor Writers
Association of America and has been published nationally in Fly Fishing
in Saltwaters Magazine. He also writes for several New Jersey based
publications that include The Fisherman Magazine, New Jersey Boating and
Fishing Magazine, and New Jersey Angler Magazine. Jim also has a weekly
fishing column that appears in The Coast Star and The Ocean Star
Newspapers of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Jim and his partners
in Shore Catch travel around the tri-state area giving saltwater fly
fishing seminars and demonstrations. Some of their featured appearances
are at the Fly Fishing Show in Somerset, the Fly Fishing Fair in Valley
Forge, Cabin Fever Day at Ramsey Outdoors Paramus, and the Jamboree at
the Sportman's Center in Bordentown. They are also regularly featured at
many of the local fishing clubs in the surrounding area.
In the
past several years Jim has fished the entire 128 miles of the New Jersey
Coast with some of the most respected charter captains, local guides,
and resident expects and has recently finished his first book on the
subject entitled "Fishing the New Jersey Coast", Burford Publishing
Company. The book is available and covers
over 100 locations from Sandy Hook to Cape May and how to fish them most
