These rods have a lightweight feel, yet they load quickly and easily on
the casting stroke. Their amazing power enables you to lift long
sections of line off the water, punch clean, crisp loops into stiff
breezes and make difficult line mends. The response to angler input is
nothing short of excellent and that remains the case whether you cast a
full floating line, a shooting head or a sinking line. Horizon rods will
easily handle the entire range of freshwater offerings from tiny drys
for wary trout, to large, wind-resistant flies needed for salmon,
steelhead, northern pike, muskie, bass and a host of other gamefish as
well. Extended length rods (9 1/2 foot and longer) are advantageous in
those situations where it is necessary to mend line in strong currents,
execute elevated back casts to prevent the fly from striking shoreline
obstacles and fishing from low-profile platforms like float tubes and
kayaks. Length ranges from 8' to 10'. Large selection of sizes and wts.
available. Price range: $470 - $625. Average price in the low $500's.

Comments:
Thomas and Thomas Horizon 9' 5 weight This rod has the perfect blend of power and a smooth delivery.
Incredible line speed can be had but has a pretty soft tip to protect 6X
tippets. I fish the 5 weight with a 6 weight line and it works perfect
for me. A great big-water rod. Also, a beautiful looking rod with a
great finish. |

3/22/01 -Ryan from Maryland rates the 6 wt. a 5 of 5
Comments:
A delicate casting rod with tremendous line speed. Excellent for larger
trout waters where there is a chance of hooking a larger fish. I have
not casted a rod that loads better than this one in a 6 wt. 4 piece is
nice for the traveler. Effortless casting for throwing streamers, to the
smallest dry fly in your box. Great job to T&T designing an overall
excellent series of rods. |
